Rehabilitation Of Slums & Colonies
The city has large number of labour colonies. Some of them are on undeveloped govt. land and some of them are on private land. The Chandigarh Administration has decided to rehabilitate all these labour colonies which had come up prior to the year 1996. One such colony which had come up on the land belonging to Punjab University has been rehabilitated in sector 25. The development works of this colony like roads, water supply, sewerage system, storm water drainage system etc. have been carried out by the Municipal Corporation at a cost of Rs.11 Crores Approx. Water stand posts, community toilets in the form of sulabh sauchalyas and mobile toilet vans have been provided in the Unauthorized Colonies under Basic minimum services programme of the Govt. of India.
